We had a lot of fun this past week. Amy and Ethan and their family came and visited for a few days. Their kids got to see snow for the first time. They went sledding and built an igloo. They also froze as they played in the snow without proper snow gear, but nothing that hot chocolate could not fix.
We also did the temple square visit. It was so much fun. The kids had a great time in the church history museum playing with the interactive displays of the book of Mormon. They danced like people in South America, fished liked Nephi’s family, and built homes out of huge cushions that resembled a pueblo house.
We visited the beehive house which was fabulous. I don’t think I could ever get tired of touring that place. I love hearing stories about the pioneers and seeing their way of life. The furnishings of the home were absolutely beautiful….the furniture, the curtains, and knick knacks that decorated the rooms.
We also had the opportunity to visit the Humanitarian center for the LDS church….wow! what an incredible program. If you have never been there….go and have a tour. It makes you so grateful to be living in the U.S. and opens your mind to the real needs of the rest of the world. I love the fact that they help anybody no matter what the race or religion because that person is a child of God. After our visit, we decided as a family to raise money for the wheel chair fund. We want to see someone on the other side of the world get a wheel chair so they don’t need to drag themselves around on their arms the rest of their lives.
Monday evening we got to do family night for the residents at the South Davis Community Hospital which is a nursing home. Tim did a great job planning the activity. He talked about having courage, believing in yourself, and having a good attitude. The kids sang a few songs and made pictures for the residents. It was very touching. We left feeling very warm and happy. A good deed was done and the service given made us feel over-joyed.
