Teagan's Baby Blessing

Many thanks to Danielle Dallas for recording Teagan's baby blessing.  I would like to share it now with those who could not attend.

Teagan’s Baby Blessing given by Timothy B.  Fisher June 3, 2012

Teagan Timothy Fisher

Heavenly Father, we, a few of thy sons, come together to give this little boy a name and a blessing.

He shall be known upon the records of the Church and throughout his life as Teagan Timothy Fisher.

We are grateful for this ordinance as described in the Doctrine and Covenants. Heavenly Father, we are grateful for the plan of salvation and thy kindness to each of us on this earth.

Teagan, I am grateful to give you a patriarchal blessing at this time. You will receive a patriarchal blessing by an ordained patriarch to declare your lineage and to pronounce upon you other blessings. It is my turn as patriarch of this family to bestow a blessing upon you.

We love you and are here to support you throughout life.

Not long ago you were with Heavenly Father. You kept your first estate and chose to come to earth and gain this little body.

I bless you to exercise faith, to learn, to grow, to enjoy this beautiful earth and to not be distracted. True happiness is to follow the Savior, Jesus Christ. Your job is to follow the prophet.

I bless your mind to take hold of gospel truths that you may teach, lead, expound, and be an example to those around you.

I bless you to learn and grow in both secular and spiritual.

I bless you that you will serve a mission and teach people how to pray.

After your mission I bless you to seek an education that you desire and then find a woman to be a helpmate to you.

Your parents love you.

I am so excited.  I got this new blender that makes a lot of hard fruits and vegetables into a smooth liquid consistency.  So I tried it out this morning and it was so good.  I put in carrots, peaches, spinach, blueberries, and a little agave.  The color was nasty looking but it tasted so good.  The kids even drank a glass; of course I told them the ingredients after they finished their smoothie.  Finally, I am getting some spinach and other healthy things into their bodies.  In fact, there is a recipe for ice cream with spinach and Jacinda is so excited to make it.  Forget about the 2.5 gallon container of Aggie blue mint ice cream (with oreo type cookies and white chocolate) in my freezer, she wants the veggies.  This is so awesome.

Some Time Early in June

I went to bed at two am.  I got up at 8:30 am.  Cleaned my room and the bathroom then went outside to play with the kids.  The weather was perfect.  The kids ate popsicles at we walked up and down the sidewalk.  Then we went to the Coburn's house and played on the swings.   I got to talk with Debbie and she informed me that the snakes are out in her yard.  I will keep an eye out for them.

Last week was Teagan’s baby blessing.  Tim did such a great job.  His spirit amazes me.  He always says that he is trying to come up to my level, but after Teagan’s baby blessing and his (Tim’s) testimony, it appears that I need to come up to his level.

Before church, we tried to get a family picture.  What was I thinking?  My kids do not sit still.  And my camera is on its last life.  Anyways, I did get a few good pictures.

Summer is here and I am so happy.  I am totally enthusiastic about learning.  I bought some math and alphabet books for the kids to do this summer.  We have already been to the library and going crazy with reading.  I am curious to see if I can sustain this behavior during the entire summer or if it ends by the beginning of next week.

I am so tired.  I guess blogging at 11 pm is not the wisest thing to do.  Regardless, I need to update the world on the happenings with the Fisher household.  Saturday was so busy.  It started with McCabe’s soccer game and then tae kwon do testing.  On our way home, the Andersons were pulling out trees and needed some help so Tim got the chainsaw and went to work.  I chatted with Megan as the boys worked and the kids played.  After that we went to a birthday party for Hayden Nippert in Riverton and then left early to make it back for stake conference.  My feet were hurting by the end of the day.  I just wanted to sleep.  Teagan was good for the most part.  I had to get up a few times during the night to feed him but overall it was not bad.  Sunday morning came too soon.  I was so tired but got up anyways and went to stake conference.  The kids were good.  They moved around a lot but were quiet.  We brought crayons and paper along with gummy worms to keep them quiet and it worked.

Last Sunday was Mother’s Day.  Mother’s Day was……normal would be the best word to describe it.  Tim had the kids fix breakfast.  We had donuts, coffee cake, and fruit.  Church was nice because I learned about Christ and got some chocolates for being a mother.  Nothing out of the ordinary really happened that day and that is the way I like it.  Tim and I are a very low key couple.  I am happy with going out to dinner or getting flowers.  You don’t need to surprise me with expensive gifts to make me smile.  I prefer making memories rather than standing in the spotlight.

School is coming to an end.  McCabe had his preschool graduation.  I know he will miss his teacher Miss Stacie.  Her teaching abilities are amazing.  McCabe wants to spell words.  He will sit at the table and ask how to spell words like “vampire” or “bats.”  I will tell him the letters and he will write them.  It makes me so happy to see he knows his alphabet. 

Jacinda is getting stronger at reading.  She still struggles but I plan to visit the library on a weekly basis during the summer to help refine her skills.  I hope she develops a love for reading.  I am currently reading about the Gerson Diet Therapy.  I find it fascinating because it uses food as medicine to cure ailments.  I wish I had found this book 10 years ago.  I would have loved to use its concepts on my mom to help her battle cancer.

Time is passing quickly.  Being a parent is like being in a warp zone….blink and a couple of years have passed.  It has been 7 weeks since Teagan’s birth.  He is getting much bigger.  His little legs are starting to get some rolls.  He is not looking so fragile anymore.  It makes me happy to see him thrive.  Children are miracles.  Having good health is a miracle.  I am so grateful that I could have Xadia and Teagan since surviving cancer.  It has been 4 years since finishing chemo therapy.  I never want to go through that experience again.  I am so thankful for the life I have lived.  Teagan is starting to smile back at me.  He is reaching for toys.  He is just being amazing and I get to witness it.  I love it, love it, love it.

My children are learning to love and serve each other. I have to admit that some days are better than others but remember, they are learning.  They are especially very willing to help with Teagan.  They want to bathe him, feed him, or hold him.  I took a few pictures of my family holding Teagan.  These pictures are so special. You can see in each family member’s expression the love and happiness that Teagan brings.  I hope that in the future as my children read this posting, they will also realize that each one of them has also touched our family with love and happiness.

I really have not fallen off the earth. I have been very busy with 4 kids. I now have things somewhat at bay so I can update my blog. I love being a mom. There are things like fights over cereal, clothes to wear, seating in the car and anything else of minute matter that becomes part of everyday life. But there are also the tender moments where the kids say, “mom, I love you,” or give me a kiss on the forehead, or hold baby Teagan. Being a parent definitely has its rewards.

I love my family. Jacinda and McCabe are starting soccer. They are so excited. This will be Jacinda’s first time taking soccer lessons. We got her some cleats and shin guards which made her over the top energized. She also cut her own bangs. She is very embarrassed about the obvious cut and asked me not to tell anyone. She does do a good job of covering the gap but with wear the gap is revealed throughout the day. I love how all kids go through this stage.

McCabe is in love with Teagan. He tells me that he loves Teagan more than anyone. McCabe is also very big into his Mario Brother’s game. Tim bought the original version and the kids had a chance to play it. They love it. I laugh at the graphics but 25 years ago that was high tech. Now it looks like some sort of Atari game (aka very out dated).

Xadia is lively. Today she got up and went to the kitchen and helped herself to the chocolate cake on the counter. Good thing Tim heard the step stool and went downstairs to catch her just in time before she ruined it. I loved how she had chocolate all over her face and hands. She is very independent. In fact, she recently learned how to climb out of her crib. For the most part she stays in it when put to bed but there have been times during the wee hours of the morning where she gets out and comes into our room. That is where Tim gets up and puts her back into bed. She does better at listening to him than me. I think I am too soft.

Teagan is perfect. He is a little cuddle bug. He is getting bigger and is just so wonderful to have. I love holding him and kissing his sweet little head. Babies are the best!
