Just got back from a fun weekend, we went camping in Marysvale Utah.  Our friends own Lizzie and Charlie’s RV park.  We rented ATV’s, went to the rock shop and learned more about rocks than we ever needed to know.  We saw some petro-glyphs that were 1500 years old.  The kids had a great time collecting rocks and jumping in the leaves.  It was so beautiful with all the fall colors.  I loved it.  Sleeping in the camper was a riot.  We were packed like sardines with the pack n play and our luggage and the hide a bed pulled out.  The kids would not be quiet and go to sleep.  Xadia kept getting out of bed and jumping on the mattress.  That would wake up Teagan and the other kids would complain.  I am glad it was only an one night ordeal.
After camping, we went to Cove Fort.  That was very interesting.  I love to see pioneer stuff and learn about ancestors.  I was so impressed with their use and recycling capabilities.  For instance, after a mattress wears out, the pioneer would take the fabric and make a shirt or some pants.  Once those wore out, the fabric was weaved into a rug.  Once the rug was worn it would be burned in the fireplace and the ashes would be used as lye for soap.  Wow….that is incredible.  Fast forward to 2012…..what happens to my mattress when worn out, it goes straight to the dump.  After our tour of Cove fort, we had a picnic on the lawn.  It was really windy and so the kids had a fun time making a sail or a parachute out of the picnic blanket.  Tim and I enjoyed watching them run around and laughing in the wind.  Such a grand time to be a child.

I have a good reason for missing my last post….I broke my ankle.  Friday morning I was walking down the stairs.  Teagan was in one arm a bagel in the other hand and Tim’s slippers on my feet.  I was only going down 4 stairs but that did it.  I slipped and landed on my rear, then my arms, and then my head.  Amazingly I did not drop Teagan.  He had a safe landing.  I was in screaming pain but so worried about comforting Teagan.  He was crying and I was crying.  My foot was swollen and hurting.  Sure enough I had broken my fibula.  I did not pull any ligaments or tendons so that means no surgery.  I have been limping around all week.  It has been frustrating becoming somewhat dependent on others.  However, I am very grateful for their help and kindness but I would much rather be on the giving side rather than the receiving.  I am so thankful to the ward for sending meals.  I am also Tim is learning how to use the oven in the time of my absence of cooking.  I had to teach him how to turn the oven to 425 degrees.  It was quite the experience.  I thought he was just joking, after all this man can wire the house, hook up the surround system, has every computer gadget and new technology thing that comes to the market.  Surely he knows how to work the oven!  Nope! He needed a little crash course but now he is golden.  I love that man.
I had a low key birthday.  Tim got me a kitchen aid.  I have already used it to make cookies and rolls.  Kerianne took me out to lunch.  We got our food to go and had a picnic in the park.  It was a lot of fun catching up with each other.  Jacinda made a really cute craft.
Xadia is having a birthday this week on the 10th.  We celebrated it today.  We had family over and ate a meal and had cake and ice cream.  When we sang to her she got really embarrassed and hid under the table.  I thought that was unusual behavior for her….I guess she is changing as she gets older.  Xadia loves to draw with markers.  We are teaching her not to draw on herself.  Just the other day she had lines going up and down both arms in a variety of marker colors.  When I was at the orthopedic doctor, I took off my sock to show him the break and Xadia took one look at my purple and blue foot and said, “oh mom, you drawing on your foot?”  I just laughed.  That is the understanding of a 2 year old.
Teagan is now 7 months old.  He is getting his top 2 teeth.  Now I know why he is not sleeping through the night.  Unfortunately Tim has to get up at night to take care of Teagan because I cannot walk on my bad foot just quite yet without my boot.
